Abseiling (Rappelling) Workshop
Private & Fully Customisable

What goes up… must come down. Learn the art of descent.

Abseiling (also known as rappelling in the US and much of the world) is the skill of safely descending a rope — and it’s an essential technique for climbers, adventurers, and anyone heading into steep or technical terrain.

Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced climber wanting to build confidence and efficiency, our private Abseiling Workshops are fully tailored to your goals, experience level, and schedule.

These sessions are run on your chosen day and time, and designed specifically for your group.

Abseiling or Rappelling — What’s the Difference?

They’re the same thing — just different names.

  • Abseiling is the term commonly used in Australia and the UK
  • Rappelling is the term used in the US and many other countries

Both refer to controlled rope descents using specialized devices and safety systems — and both are taught in this workshop.

Who Is This Workshop For?

This workshop is suitable for:

✅ Complete beginners wanting to learn safely from scratch

✅ Climbers looking to move into multi-pitch climbing

✅ Bushwalkers wanting safe descent options in steep terrain

✅ Adventure groups, clubs, schools, and corporate teams

✅ Climbers wanting to improve efficiency and backup systems

Because the workshop is private and customised, we can scale everything to suit your group — from first-time abseilers through to advanced skill development.

What You’ll Learn

Depending on your goals and experience, skills may include:

  • Single rope and double rope abseils
  • Device use and comparisons, including:
    • Figure 8 devices
    • Stitch plates
    • Tubular belay devices
    • Assisted braking devices (such as the GriGri)
  • Prusiks and how to back up your system
  • Edge management and safe setups
  • Rope retrieval techniques
  • Safety checks and partner systems
  • Problem solving and real-world scenarios

We focus heavily on safe systems, redundancy, and decision-making, not just sliding down the rope.

Indoor Training + Real Outdoor Abseils

One of the big advantages of training with us is that we can combine controlled indoor learning with real outdoor environments.

🧗 Indoor Training — On Belay Climbing (Gold Coast)

We can start indoors on our:

  • 5 metre abseil wall
  • 10 metre abseil wall

This is ideal for:

  • Learning device control
  • Practising backups and transitions
  • Building confidence before heading outdoors

🏞️ Outdoor Locations

We can then progress to outdoor cliffs, including:

  • Glasshouse Mountains — abseils from approx. 15m to 45m
  • Kangaroo Point (Brisbane) — cliffs approx. 20m high

Outdoor sessions introduce:

  • Real anchors
  • Edge transitions
  • Rope management in natural environments

Locations are chosen based on:

  • Your experience level
  • Group size
  • Skills you want to focus on
  • Weather and conditions

Private, Flexible & Fully Customisable

Just like our Rock Climbing Experiences, these workshops are:

  • ✅ Private groups only
  • ✅ Run on any day (subject to availability)
  • ✅ Start times chosen to suit your group
  • ✅ Custom-built around your goals

Because of this, the length of the workshop varies, for example:

  • 2 hours indoor training only
  • 4 hours outdoor only
  • Indoor training + full day outdoors
  • Extended outdoor days for advanced skill development

We’ll help recommend what makes sense once we know what you’d like to achieve.

Group Sizes

We can cater for:

  • Small private groups
  • Large groups and clubs
  • Groups of up to 20 participants (with appropriate instructor ratios)

This makes the workshop great for:

  • Social groups
  • Climbing clubs
  • Outdoor education groups
  • Team-building experiences

Pricing

Because every workshop is custom built, pricing varies based on:

  • Group size
  • Duration
  • Indoor vs outdoor components
  • Location
  • Skill level and complexity

💲 Prices start from $99 per person for indoor training sessions

Longer outdoor and advanced workshops are priced accordingly.

Once you submit an enquiry, we’ll recommend a suitable structure and provide a clear quote based on your needs.
